Mercy High School receives information throughout the year regarding various summer programs. Many of them are for enrichment and some also offer college credits. Most programs have information online as well as online applications, unless otherwise indicated. Please check back often as this section is updated as information is received, and some have spring application deadlines. The office usually has at least one brochure per program for students to look at, although visiting the individual programs' websites are recommended.

Explore-A-College is a college-level summer program for current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students designed to let them "practice" going to college or to prep for the four-year experience. Students will take a class taught by an Earlham professor, develop college-level discussion, research and learn time management skills to use in high school and beyond. Michigan Freedom Academy - Leadership Camp |
|
The Michigan Freedom Academy is a leadership development program for high school students with a minimum 2.5 GPA and are entering their junior or senior year. Students in the program come together to discuss a variety of issues in the areas of education, business, civil government, law enforcement, drug demand reduction, national defense, and the basic perspectives on the freedoms and privileges provided by the Bill of Rights. Although the Freedom Academy is sponosred in part by the Army and Air National Guard, it is NOT a recruiting event or a "boot camp" environment. There are monetary awards and college scholarships awarded in various areas of the program. |

The University of Michigan Society of Women Engineers is hosting a Summer Engineering Exploration Camp. This is a weeklong residential camp held at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus that allows high school students to explore different fields and careers in engineering. Open to students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school in the fall of 2011. |
Visions programs mix hands-on service work, intercultural lving, and active exploration. Cross-cultural learning and friendship is a core focus. Programs are offered in: Peru, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guadelupe, Vietnam, Dominica, British Virgin Islands, Mississippi, Montana, and Alaska. Participants will receive between 65-100 community service hours, detailing the projects accomplished. |
