Course Requirements:

Assignments:

1.    The text was written with the intention that it could be understood with a minimum of teacher explanation.  Reading assignments must be completed regularly as assigned along with associated homework.  Class time will be used for group discussions, applications, and review.

2.    Concept recognition is essential to success in this course.  The homework assignments will help you in this area, but you are encouraged to maintain some type of glossary of terms and/or concepts as they are introduced.  You may find it helpful to either set aside one section of your notebook or maintain flashcards for this purpose.

3.    You are responsible for completing homework as assigned and for being aware of current events articles in newspapers and magazines that relate to economics issues while you are in this class.

4.    All assignments must be completed by the due date for full credit.  Each day (including class off days) an assignment is late 10% will automatically be deducted from the grade.  All assignments, except workbook exercises, must be done in pen.

5.    You will begin the career preparedness project early in the semester.  This will involve doing some career exploration to determine your interest if you have not already done so.  You will then become aware and explore that career including job prospects, look for schools to prepare you for the career, explore the cost of that education and the benefits of that education in the job market and complete a resume.  Then you will interview or “shadow” someone presently in the career.  This project must include an awareness/exploration report, college selection and cost report, and an interview or “shadowing” experience with someone in that career.  A detailed assignment sheet will be passed out the first week of the semester.

Tests

A test must be taken on the day it is scheduled.  If there are special circumstances, they must be discussed with the teacher before class.  Tests missed due to excused absences must be made up within the cycle, using the media center testing room.  The teacher will determine the nature of the make-up test.  Tests missed due to unexcused absences will be counted as zero.
